Mind Games III

Like Sands through an Hour Glass

These are the Days of Our Lives

As we get ready to continue playing our mind games one of the things we really have to do is keep our mind strong, healthy and focusedConcentration is no Secret, but it is a definite Key.  So how are we going to get our mdays of our livesind ready for all of these games we are going to play?  First you could visit some of my other posts, there is one that will help with focus another with concentration and still a third to help with relaxation.  They should be able to get your motor running for sure.  But of course that is just the beginning.  The entire Mind Games Series will help really tune up your mind-band.

Time is really one of the, if not THE most important commodity we have; there just never seems to be enough of it.  I have often said that each of us should split our days into three equal 8 hour periods.  Use 8 hours for sleep and another 8 hours for doing your job, the one that currently pays your bills and do it better and more complete than anyone can.  Be sure to give your best and always go that extra mile.  It will more than pay you back in the return!

Those last 8 hours of your day should be used as your Personal Time; or personal hours.  These final 8 hours are really the make us or break us hours in our day and life.  These are the hours we need to work towards our life’s goal.  That Ultimate goal; no matter what that goal is!  Yes you can take home your work if what you are currently doing is your great ambition and will lead you to that ultimate goal.  You can even work another job if that will aid you in achieving your success.  You just have to use this time to help you work smarter not longer!

We need to step away from our daily grind and find a way to recharge and regenerate our mind.

During our normal work days we really do start to get depleted and no matter what it is we do, we need some time away so we can refill those batteries and recharge that mind and our spirit.  Doing the same thing all the time is very draining.  We all need change in our daily routines and lives.  Something different makes us able to concentrate and focus on those tasks at hand.  A change of pace, some intrigue or something simply “different” from our daily lives will have an amazing value to your mind and body.

It really does not need to be complex - writing my blog is a great diversion from daily life and allows me to work those creative muscles.  A walk in the park, or a trip to the gym for a brisk workout might do it for you.  Read a book, play with your children or even your pet(s), watch a movie, listen to some music or even get out that research material you have been collecting so you can study up on that move you need to make to get closer to your grand achievement in life.  Doing this will allow your mind to relax from its daily rut and will help you to completely stay away from any let downs or even a burn out.

It is pretty simple folks - Neglecting that part of our life tends to bring about disastrous results.  Shutting down our imagination, creativity, drive and even our intuition occurs because we have begun to distort our very own needs with our work effort.  If we close out certain portions of our life and our mind our own identities start to develop deficiencies not abundance.

We all need to pay close attention to our own needs - be greedy here - and then act upon them quickly.  When “my mind or my body” cries out to me and calls out to me, telling me it is time for fun, or downtime or simple renewal, I listen and act upon it immediately.  We all know that we need food and water and sleep to survive - well folks we all need fun too!

So!  Stop turning a deaf-ear towards yourself and try listening to you!  Give yourself the chance to enjoy the time that you deserve.  You will see; like magic all that you want will be there for you!  Time spent taking care of you is the best investment you can make towards your future - So Just DO IT!

@ Susie - Thanks - and I look forward to what we discussed. That is exactly it. If you can find a good mix of your time - you are able to get the most from you time…

I’m going to tell you something straight up.
I started blogging in Nov since then I haven’t drank or been to jail
or spent a night on the street etc. I have re-tuned my Ya-ttitude and
got a lot of benefits from aligning myself with some positive people.
I got back with my wife and just saw my son off to school.
I ride my bike often to “let go” and don’t remember the last time
I went ballistic. I do/did get discouraged at times but it was people
like you that I appreciate reaching out to me. I went from someone who could barely
sit still to someone who enjoys the stillness and peace of the DAY.
Now that’s pretty cool huh ?
Have a great weekend Benny and everyone Peace

@ John - Well I guess first there is a thank you, if I helped you even a little bit than I am glad that I could make a change for you. Second, lets continue working on those things we spoke about - and yes - staying out of trouble is a good thing :)

Wow I am in awe! Benny you really motivate me with this article to start doing the things I put off for so long.

    Thanks man!

  5. Benny Greenberg Says:

@Frank - Thanks for stopping in - Again - I am glad this may get your day going well - but of all people - You need some “personal time!”

Benny this is so amazing. I hardly know where to start. :) I have always been a peaceful person, easy with down time and being alone and sitting still, etc. BUT since choosing to write my book, get an agent (which I have) and go professional in my writing….I can barely keep pace. The lines between what I love doing (writing) and my work to make a living (writing) get very blurred. And when the demands get piled sky high I find myself working 12, sometimes 14, hour days…seven days a week just to meet deadlines. I try to go for a hike but lately it’s a rushed one if at all.

I am thinking I need to take a whole day off just to “reset” my system, slow down and regroup into a new pattern. I am going to print this out and reread it a few times to let it really sink in. I love the 24 hours split into 8. I may need to see if I can do that. Even if in the 8 hours of MY TIME I do a more creative or fun aspect of work. I think what’s made it challenging is that everything I’m doing is self-taught and all the tech stuff is a steep learning curve. I don’t mind it at all but it can slow me down and make everything take a bit longer.

Anyway, I really agree with you on this. And this article inspires me to rethink my days. This is important stuff you’ve shared here. Thanks my friend. I appreciate it and will Stumble…gladly. Hugs and love to your, Robin

  7. Benny Greenberg Says:

@Robin - WOW - You have definitely been a busy lady. You will realize that if you take some time off - you will be able to accomplish much more than if you continue to work at it. Work smarter Robing not longer!

BTW: Shoot me an email - got something to discuss with you :)
    Ben

  8. Susie Says:

BINGO - and we need not feel guilty when we take those 8 hours of personal time.. thinking we should be doing something else. When I first quit my “real” job, our plan was take a month off.. even during that month, when I would spend an entire day painting, drawing, reading.. or something I hold dear to me,,, guilt with a capital G and down the gullet, onto something else.. that I had to do. EEGads..it got old, and so am I and I said to myself.. Self… you like it.. what is wrong with that.. and, I am a new person!

Now being hired as an employee but working at home, I structure my time..and try to finish my hours by Friday..giving me a guilt free, me and my time.. for cleansing my mind & soul!

    GREAT work Benny as always!

I love this place.. it’s like my mind away from my mind!

  9. Dr. Nicole Sundene Says:

I don’t see it as greedy. You have to take the time you need for yourself before you can give to others. The best givers take this time…you will as a result have so much more to offer the world. It is not selfish…it is self-FULL.

Great read. Enjoyed this…with that being said I am outta here! Need some creativity time :D

  10. Benny Greenberg Says:

@ Nicky - It is not greedy - but most people will see it as selfish - Looking out for themselves. But sometimes you need that selfishness to fulfill yourself!

  11. jcorn Says:

I have to give a shout out to that very evocative title because I have a soft spot for the names of Soap Operas, so resonant (As the World Turns, The Young and the Restless, Day of our Lives, etc).

You are so right about taking time to recharge, regenerate and focus on the use of our time, which is limited here on this earth. Glad to have found this blog - and you - again.

  12. Benny Greenberg Says:

@Jcorn - The only thing that is limited is time itself. But if you can manipulate it to you advantage then you can enjoy it and never feel short-changed by its lack.

  13. Shirley Says:

@John Sullivan You almost made me cry in happiness for you. I am so happy to hear about people who turn their lives around.

@Benny Imagination is a wonderful thing. It helps us with our creativity, we form conversations in our heads of how a conversation should go and prepares us for that conversation. Your imagination also can help lower your blood pressure. It’s so much nicer to think about castles made of crystal than the daily grind.

  14. Shayne Packer Says:

Good, practical advice Benny! Especially for someone like me who gets distracted so easily, and before I know it, my neck is stiff and sore from being at my computer too long at a time. I need this. Thanks.

  15. Chris Says:

Benny, your line of being greedy with your personal time is so true as most of us struggle to achieve a reasonable life balance. If we don’t fight for OUR time someone or something wil snatch it away. Thanks for the post it’s made me more determined to try and balance this week at least for a start!

  16. Jennifer Says:

“It is pretty simple folks - Neglecting that part of our life tends to bring about disastrous results.” Amen. I have witnessed it. I have to take care of myself, or I go way down. I’m off to do that now….
